Working towards a vision of Diversity and Inclusion in Engineering.
Many organisations are working to increase diversity and inclusion in engineering, STEM and other disciplines where under-represented groups struggle to get a foothold. Towards Vision aims to work collaboratively with companies, government, policy makers, organisations and other interested groups in engineering to clarify a vision of best practice in inclusivity so that we achieve the diversity of thought brought about by welcoming members of the workforce of different gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, background, race, culture, colour, personality, appearance, marital status, work style and experience.

About me
Dawn Bonfield MBE CEng FIMMM FICE HonFIStructE
I am a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor of Inclusive Engineering at Aston University, where my role is concerned with the elimination of bias and discrimination in our engineering products and services. I promote the engineering core discipline of 'inclusion' and work to embed the Sustainable Development Goals into our engineering solutions. I am also Director of Engineering Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at Aston University. I am originally an aerospace materials engineer, and am Past President and former Chief Executive of the Women's Engineering Society. I formed my own Company, Towards Vision, in January 2017 and work on a variety of projects to support inclusive engineering. I am also the UK representative of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations Women in Engineering Committee.
I was the founder of International Women in Engineering Day in 2014, the Magnificent Women outreach and engineering inspiration activity, the inaugural 50 Women in Engineering List 2016 in partnership with the Daily Telegraph, and the Top 100 Historical Women in Engineering List in 2019. In 2019 I was ranked number 2 in the Inclusive Boards Financial Times Top 100 Influential Women in Engineering list. I received an MBE in 2016 for services to diversity in engineering.
I have many other interests and affiliations, find out more through my personal website here.
I am a regular media commentator and speaker on the subject of diversity and inclusion in engineering. Please see my published articles here.
I am available for consultancy work helping companies with their journey to embed diversity and inclusion into their business, and I speak most often about addressing inclusive engineering, microinequalities, women returners, metrics and measures, strategy, outreach, and the sustainable development goals in engineering.
